We are searching for an Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist Supervisor to support our inpatient team -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide direct supervision to our inpatient SLP team at the medical center, promote program development, assist in daily operations related to the provision of therapy services, and provide patient care in area of specialty.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates staffing schedules and approves/denies time-off requests according to hospital and departmental guidelines. Works with staff to plan a schedule that meets the needs of the employee without compromising the needs of the department.
  • In collaboration with leader and staff, facilitates goal setting and initiates developmental plan, provides structured performance feedback, ongoing performance recognition and coaching and identifies opportunities for staff performance through yearly developmental plans and information and/or formal follow-up.
  • Participates in interviews and makes recommendation for candidate selection.
  • Participates in the design and development of the department new employee orientation. Offers ongoing feedback into orientation process. Orients new staff.
  • Ensures evidence-based practices are promoted by service line.
  • Performs patient care and related activities within the scope of their training and responsibilities (demonstrating advanced clinical competencies in an area of specialty), meeting the productivity/time management expectations according to hospital and departmental guidelines. 
  • Participates in ongoing communication and collaboration with other members of the patient’s interdisciplinary care team.
  • Demonstrates initiative in the design and implementation of program development. 
  • Coordinates, creates staff assignments and participates in department clinics and provides advanced clinical expertise as it relates to specific clinics.
  • Meets all (100%) institutional and departmental health, safety and training requirements prior to merit review date through attending all (100%) required OSHA, communicative diseases, fire, safety and infection control in services and other hospital/departmental health, safety and training in services. 
  • Maintains a current awareness and participates in departmental and hospital activities by attending and participating in departmental meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology field of study required
  • CCC-SLP certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association required
  • TX-SLP license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation required
  • 5 years experience required clinical experience
