We are searching for a Perfusionist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide perfusion services to support cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) during congenital heart surgery, ECMO support, VAD support, and cell saver procedures in an age-appropriate manner.

Qualifications:
• Required bachelor's degree in science and technical diploma by a Perfusionist Program
• Required LP - Licensed Perfusionist by the State of Texas Medical Board, CCP - Cert-Cer Clinical Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion acquired within 18 months of entering the role
Responsibilities:
• Performs direct patient care by operating the heart-lung machine, ECMO, VAD, cell saver and other support systems. Sets up CPB circuits and other support systems according to case preferences and age appropriateness 100% of the time. Completes the pre-pump checklist prior to the start of CPB 100% of the time.
• Ensures that pump team supplies and equipment are always readily available. Performs cleaning and disinfecting of equipment that has been used and returned to the proper storage area. Reports malfunctioning equipment to Biomed or the company for repair (utilizes the Biomed logbook as a tracking tool). Retrieves replacement equipment if necessary. Reports any discrepancies to OR management.
• Completes Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) for all analyzers (ACT, glucometers, Gem Premiere) 100% of the time. Performs accurately, the QC of all analyzers daily as outlined in the policy and procedure. Accurately documents the results of QC daily as outlined in the policy and procedure.
• Participates in Staff education and is responsible for personal, and professional growth and development. Lectures to perfusion students and serves as a didactic and clinical instructor. Conducts in-services for staff regarding CPB and perfusion topics.
