We are searching for a Music Therapist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will implement and provide a comprehensive program of Creative Art Therapy to help meet the emotional, developmental, and social needs of children in a health care setting. The Music Therapist provides opportunities for children to gain a sense of mastery, offering learning experiences, and encouraging family and peer interaction.

Requirements
•   Bachelor’s degree required
   MT-BC certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists required

Responsibilities
•   Assesses coping styles of patient and families during introduction of service to develop therapeutic plan of care that incorporates patient and family needs, interests and abilities
•   Provides developmentally appropriate environments and activities for patients of all ages and determines the benefits of group verses individual therapeutic interventions
•   Provides interventions that increase emotional support to patients and families during identified stress points in order to facilitate adaptive coping
•   Promotes a safe environment within the hospital by ensuring supplies used for therapy meet infection control guidelines
•   Communicates the benefits of creative arts therapy to the health care team, as evidenced by participation in interdisciplinary rounds, unit based projects, and/or daily report
•   Develops and promotes volunteer programming to strengthen creative arts therapy programming
•   Collaborates in an intradepartmental effort to improve programming to meet the mission and vision of the Child Life Department
•   Reviews Creative Arts Therapy program yearly to determine process or program improvements
