We are searching for an Exercise Physiologist — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will assume responsibility for the Exercise and Laboratories. Your duties are performed in a manner that is developmentally appropriate for the patient population served, primarily pediatric patients ranging in age from neonate to adult with varying degrees of acuity.

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree Exercise Science (Or Comparable) With Specialization In Exercise Physiology Required
• PALS - Cert-pals Preferred
• ACLS - Cert-adv Cardiac LS ACLS Preferred
• ACSM-CER - Cert-acsm Cer Personal Trainer Preferred
• 1 year of experience in clinical exercise testing and exercise ECG interpretation preferred
• 1 year of previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting
• 1 year of previous experience in Laboratory and personnel management preferred

Responsibilities:

• Schedule cardiopulmonary exercise tests, document necessary patient information, and inform the front desk when appropriate
• Prepare for the exercise test. Functions include: review of patient charts for medical history and reason for test, assembly of red folder and necessary forms, entry of patient information into the ECG and metabolic carts, performance of gas and volume-flow calibration on metabolic cart, and set up of the bed, electrodes, and mouthpiece
• Explain the cardiopulmonary exercise test procedure to patient and parents in a manner that is appropriate for the patient
• Ask parents to read and sign the informed consent carefully, and answer any questions or concerns they might have regarding the risks of the test
• Prepare the electrode sites by cleansing the skin with alcohol, drying the skin, and exfoliating the skin at the electrode sites with sandpaper by lightly rubbing the skin to remove dead skin cells
• Attach the lead wires using the modified MasonLiker electrode placement sites
• Perform necessary gas and volume/flow calibrations on the metabolic cart on a daily basis
• Assure that laboratory equipment is functioning properly
• Assure that adequate supplies are ordered as needed
• Collaborate with the Manager and Medical Director to standardize departmental policies and procedures for the Exercise Lab as needed and as documented by updated policies and procedures
• Establish and implement projects to promote current research in exercise science as it applies to the clinical setting
