We’re searching for a Assistant Director of the Cancer Hematology Center, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will be the main focal point for strategic planning and all daily operational issues regarding the joint venture of UT MD Anderson and Texas Children’s, with a single mission: to end childhood cancer. Provides guidance to faculty, trainees, staff, and unpaid personnel who conduct the Division/Center activities.

Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with Division/Center Director (a BCM Faculty member in the hospital), completes and presents strategic plans for the advancement of support for and activities of the Division/Center.  
  • Identifies important trends or changes in the related fields of patient care, education, and research.  
  • Facilitates the development of goals and objectives for the Division/Center. Develops detailed plans and budgets to support proposals for future strategic and operational directions and the necessary support and logistics such as human resources, space, equipment, information technology and financial resources to accomplish them).  
  • Presents plans to hospital and other institutional leadership for approval. Upkeeps data repositories needed for daily operational oversight and monitoring and strategic planning. (e.g., spreadsheets and databases).  
  • Contributes to succession planning for leadership roles within the Division/Center. Contributes to faculty career and financial planning processes for faculty.
  • In partnership with Division/Center Director (a BCM Faculty member), coordinates the activities of the Division/Center and provides leadership to the long-term and short-term operational needs of those who work in the Division/Center.  
  • Promotes Customer Service Culture and Partnership Management by working in collaboration with institutional leadership, other departments, and Division/Center members.  
  • Ensures Division/Center Compliance with Regulatory & Safety requirements and enhances the quality of Division/Center’s activities, processes, and outcomes.  
  • Oversees the planning and management of the finances of the Division/Center.  

Skills & Requirements

  • Required bachelor's degree Science, Business, Hospital Administration or related healthcare or business field
  • Required 5 years business operations, research, and or quality experience, including 2 years management/leadership
  • Master’s degree in in Science, Business, Hospital Administration or related healthcare or business field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience
