We're searching for an Accounts Payable Manager, someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you'll provide support to the Assistant Director or above in planning and directing accurate and timely accounts payable functions, to direct the work of the professional and clerical staff, to work with our departments to address issues related to payment processing and to work with our departments to develop more efficient procurement and payment processes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain accounts payable processes for all entities
  • Review process logs of staff and develop and maintain benchmarks for staff performance measures
  • Ensure that all department's key controls are executed to ensure the accurate processing of accounts payable and related functions
  • Provide customer service by responding to employee and leader inquiries in a timely and accurate manner
  • Oversee customer service functions of all work groups to ensure we maintain satisfactory feedback from peers, leadership, personal responses, and survey results
  • Ensure the maintenance of, and identify and implement enhancements to, the systems supporting accounts payable processes while working closely with stakeholders in Human Resources, Supply Chain and Finance functional support
  • Direct monthly queue volumes to ensure that all trade payable accounts are properly expensed and that adjustments are proposed in a timely manner
  • Direct the implementation and maintenance of electronic invoicing process with Texas Children’s vendors
  • Participate in leadership of the department by coordinating training activities for staff and stakeholders, assuming an active role in the management team meetings and activities and assisting in the decision-making process for departmental issues
  • Maintain an adequate control environment through the ongoing development and review of departmental policies and procedures by coordinating revisions with appropriate staff, monitoring progress, and reviewing necessary changes with other members of the management team
  • Monitor the organization's compliance with accounts payable activities
  • Ensure that Joint Commission requirements specific to your department are fulfilled but also understand the linkage between your department’s requirements and those of the integrated delivery system 
     

Skills & Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in accounts payable, financial disbursements, or operational accounting required
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), multi-entity accounting and prior experience with PeopleSoft Financials/Payroll Modules
  • Ability to use a computerized accounting system, word processing, spreadsheets, ten-key by touch, communicate effectively verbally and in writing with subordinates, departmental management and all employees
