We’re hunting for a Surgery Coordinator, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will independently perform surgery scheduling for multiple subspecialty surgical services as well as assist in the coordination of providers schedules to effectively manage patient care, while providing excellent customer care in the ambulatory setting.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Schedule Surgeries.

Establishes and maintains an efficient system for filing and retrieval documents weekly and timely.

Answers telephones in a professional manner, takes accurate messages, determines, and takes action necessary on messages from the public, physicians, and Hospital administration in a courteous and timely manner.

Performs patient registration procedures per department process.

Ensures that all necessary patient forms are provided and filled out for their surgery.

Communicates with patients, staff and providers regarding patient arrivals, delays, and surgery processes.

Alerts clinic staff and providers of any changes or discrepancies in patient’s scheduled surgery.

Refers all patients with insurance or funding concerns to the financial counselor or prior-authorization department.

Provides status of all surgical appointments daily to reflect arrived, cancelled, no-show, or rescheduled status.

Assists, as needed, licensed staff with the non-financial aspects of the inpatient admission process, e.g., calls escort, helps with paperwork as needed.

Receives completed medical records and follows up with providers to obtain missing medical records.

Works with patients and family during clinic to determine date of surgery.

Serves in key role to assure most efficient patient throughput from clinic to the operating room.

Coordination of Schedules.

Customer Service and communication.

Performs other job-related functions.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

 

Skills & Requirements

Required H.S. Diploma or GED

Required 3 years Healthcare experience (medical assistant, front desk specialist, administrative assistant) with preferred prior work in an Ambulatory Clinic environment
