Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Nursing

Required License  

  • RN- Texas Board of Nursing and Nursing Licensure and compact
  • BLS- certificate Basic Life Support from AHA

Required Experience

  • 2 yrs. professional clinical experience in area of clinical expertise 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Working knowledge of performance improvement methodologies 
  • Clinical knowledge specialty 
  • Knowledge of organizational guiding principles and practices 
  • Desire to work in a shared leadership/collaborative model 
  • Project Management knowledge 
  • The ability to listen and communicate both verbally and in writing in the area of quality improvement and health care services. 

Specific Duties

  • Develops and produces reports for performance improvement/safety, guideline utilization, and outcomes for areas of responsibility. Uses statistical techniques and knowledge in the development of measures, sampling methods, and the appropriate representation of data. (Statistical consultation may be necessary until this expertise is developed.) 
  • Utilizes data from benchmark facilities and databases, financial databases, and other internal and external data repositories to identify improvement opportunities. In collaboration with the Medical Director and until leadership designs and presents the finding of quality improvement projects to appropriate departmental audiences. 
  • Acts as a consultant for medical staff and departmental staff related to the development of measurements, statistical analysis, and appropriate data presentation to support initiatives intended to achieve breakthrough or incremental process improvement in patient care, as measured by at least one improvement, worthy of storyboard per year. 
  • Utilizes the Model for Improvement, Lean Methodologies and other tools adopted by the organization as the basis for performance improvement projects and serves as a resource to all staff on the methodologies
  • Provides leadership and education regarding standards for The Joint Commission, American College of Surgeons, AAMI and CMS Regulation related to performance improvement. For non-compliant Standards and/or Regulations, actions are taken to achieve compliance. Follow up for all non-compliant areas until full compliance is achieved. 
  • Conducts assessment for compliance with Standards and Regulation on a periodic basis. 
  • For non-compliant Standards and/or Regulations, actions are taken to achieve compliance. Follow up for all non-compliant areas is conducted until full compliance is achieved.
