We are searching for a Physical Therapist Assistant -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. To provide assistance to the physical therapists; to follow and implement the individual patient plan of care providing Physical Therapy treatment programs in a developmentally and age-appropriate manner for patients ages 0 - adulthood.

4 weekday shifts per month with occasional weekday coverage

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attends health, safety and training Inservices and other mandatory Hospital activities.
  • Thoroughly reviews the individualized patient physical therapy evaluation, plan of care and progress notes prior to implementing patient care treatment.
  • Thoroughly review's patient's hospital medical record (inpatient) prior to implementing patient care to identify change in
    order, change in patient status, lab work completed, contraindications and/or precautions.
  • Provides accurate and thorough information consistently to patients and families concerning their participation in the patient's continuity of care as outlined by the primary therapist. 
  • Documents patient information in patient's medical record according to hospital and departmental guidelines in a legible manner.
  • Plans, coordinates and presents at least two (2) educational inservices per year to departmental staff in addition to those scheduled post-workshop training. 
  • Informs Team Leader or designee of all patient/personal injury or unsafe situations, anticipated problems and unusual situations; completes appropriate related documentation according to departmental and hospital guidelines.
  • Works with departmental staff and other health care professionals to promoted teamwork through volunteering regularly to help others when time allows
     

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Skills & Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy required
  • PTA certification from the state of Texas required
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Some clinical experience in an acute care pediatric setting or equivalent experience preferred
