We are searching for Registered Nurses to join our Operating Room Fellowship Program. This fellowship is designed for nurses without prior Operating Room experience who are interested in transitioning into the specialty of perioperative nursing. Through a structured training program, fellows will receive extensive education, clinical support, and hands-on experience to build the skills needed to become a successful Operating Room Nurse.

The program includes completion of Association of periOperative Registered Nurses Periop 101: A Core Curriculum™ OR, along with precepted clinical training, mentorship, and competency-based development in the surgical environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for nurses looking to grow into a highly specialized and rewarding role within pediatric surgical services.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in a structured Operating Room Fellowship Program
  • Complete Association of periOperative Registered Nurses Periop 101: A Core Curriculum™ OR
  • Receive hands-on clinical training and mentorship in the OR setting
  • Learn perioperative nursing workflows, patient safety practices, and surgical procedures
  • Provide nursing care to pediatric patients undergoing surgery with support from experienced team members
  • Assist with patient preparation, positioning, intraoperative safety, documentation, and care coordination
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and perioperative team members
  • Support safe, efficient, and high-quality care in the operating room environment

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or one of the following:  
  • Associate degree in nursing/related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining an RN license with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and a signed agreement  
  • Technical Diploma in Nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement  
  • Must be currently enrolled in A Nursing Bridge Program working toward an MSN. Verified BSN-equivalency or a signed agreement is required.  
  • RN License – Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association required  
  • 9 months Professional Nursing Experience Required  
  • 1 year Acute care Nursing experience preferred
  • Fellowship program will be 7:15am-3:45pm for 10-12 months. Then a determination will be made on which team the fellow candidate will join - inpatient or outpatient.
