We are searching for a Senior Sleep Center Technologist – someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. This person has passed a competency examination and is credentialed as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). In this position, you’ll perform sleep studies and document results according to facility policy and procedures. Excellent communication skills are essential for this position. The Senior Sleep Technologist performs procedures appropriate to their competence and credentials, and is primarily responsible for conducting night time sleep studies.

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) course for health care providers
  • Two (2) years of experience in pediatric polysomnography (sleep studies)
  • Current registry in Polysomnography (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
  • Ability to independently and accurately score adult and pediatric sleep studies in accordance with AASM guidelines
  • Ability to independently demonstrate skill in polysomnography
  • Demonstrated ability to operate sleep equipment and video monitoring equipment
  • Is articulate, courteous and supportive in dealing with hospital, administrative and departmental personnel, patients and parents with ability to honor confidentiality
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate good customer service
  • Utilize basic office equipment and a personal computer
  • Knowledgeable of current AASM adult and pediatric scoring rules
  • Ensures electrode application in adherence with the International 10–20 System
  • Is knowledgeable in the correct performance of sleep studies
  • Ability to recognize clinically significant events and follow facility policy and procedures
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program) accredited sleep program preferred
  • Registered Sleep Technologist by American Board of Sleep Medicine preferred
