We are looking for a visionary and collaborative Vice President of Digital/Innovative Applications to help shape the future of digital healthcare at Texas Children’s.

In this key executive role, you will provide the strategic leadership and enterprise-wide vision required to advance Texas Children’s digital transformation. You will serve as our enterprise architect and innovation catalyst—guiding the design, integration, and modernization of digital platforms and technologies that enhance patient care, empower our workforce, and strengthen operational performance.

You will also serve as a trusted member of Texas Children’s senior leadership team, contributing to system-wide strategy, resource planning, and initiatives that elevate care delivery and organizational excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Lead with Vision and HEART

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with Texas Children’s clinical, operational, and business goals.
  • Champion innovation by identifying and integrating emerging technologies—including AI, machine learning, and automation—to create meaningful, human-centered solutions.
  • Foster an enterprise culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement to accelerate digital adoption and transformation.
  • Lead initiatives that uplift our HEART Values, strengthening unity, purpose, and pride across our workforce.

Advance Technology & Operational Excellence

  • Provide executive oversight for the development, integration, and deployment of digital health solutions—telehealth platforms, mobile apps, patient engagement tools, Epic, and Oracle ERP.
  • Ensure enterprise digital systems are secure, reliable, scalable, and designed to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Drive operational and financial stewardship by developing budgets, optimizing investments, and defining KPIs that demonstrate clear return on value.

Engage Stakeholders & Strengthen Partnerships

  • Collaborate closely with clinical, operational, and executive leaders to ensure digital initiatives reflect the needs of our patients, providers, and staff.
  • Lead vendor and industry partnerships to bring forward best-in-class solutions and negotiate agreements that advance Texas Children’s strategic priorities.
  • Advocate for user-centered design to ensure tools and technologies improve the care experience for both patients and caregivers.

Champion Compliance, Security & Trust

  • Partner with security, compliance, and data governance teams to ensure digital systems meet all regulatory, privacy, and cybersecurity standards, including HIPAA.
  • Safeguard the trust of our patients, families, and team members by promoting best practices in data protection and digital integrity.

Shared Leadership Accountabilities

  • Deliver timely performance appraisals and ensure effective onboarding for new team members.
  • Monitor and report financial performance monthly.
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions and staffing plans aligned with department goals.
  • Prepare annual capital and operating budgets.
  • Address concerns and complaints promptly and thoughtfully.
  • Support organizational readiness and accreditation efforts, including Joint Commission standards, in collaboration with system partners.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrated success modernizing legacy systems and integrating emerging technologies.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture, digital platforms, and AI/ML.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare innovation, change management, quality improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, manage complex programs, and influence senior leaders.
  • Track record of delivering efficiency, automation, and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred: Master’s degree
  • Required: At least 10 years of leadership experience in technology, innovation, or digital transformation
  • Preferred: Leadership experience in a large healthcare environment, with responsibility for enterprise strategic initiatives
