We’re looking for a Public Relations Project Lead, someone who’s ready to grow with our company. In this position, you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategic media relations and public relations programs for the most highly visible, key service lines at our hospital on a local, regional and national front.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
•    Acts as public relations representative for the overall hospital and/or service lines and programs.
•    Represents the department with key organization and physician leadership, builds relationships and actively seeks out media worthy opportunities.
•    Develops comprehensive plans to proactively drive strategic story opportunities across appropriate media outlets. Plans include strategies, objectives, tactics, messaging, pitch points, timelines, budgets, media targets and media training (for both experts and patient families).
•    Works proactively to secure local, regional and national media placements for the Texas Children’s brand, especially for key, high-level service lines, as well as additional key initiatives or assignments. This includes writing media materials and news releases, coordinating media visits, securing patient releases and cooperation, tracking media coverage, etc.
•    Works to media train key hospital spokespeople to confidently and appropriately respond during any interaction with media contacts including filmed and/or live media interviews, news conferences, etc.
•    Partners with marketing colleagues to develop PR plan components for integrated programs against specific business initiatives. Plans may include media relations, community events, press events, etc. Partners with internal communications to ensure that appropriate stories are also featured in publications and other internal vehicles and may assist in article development.
•    Actively explores opportunities beyond traditional media (print/TV) when relevant to strategic objectives and target audiences, including digital platforms and “live” media (events).
•    Works collaboratively and effectively with other PR colleagues including Sr. PR Specialists and PR Specialists to minimize overlap of resources and maximize opportunities to cross promote multiple service lines, "beats", initiatives and/or activities as appropriate.

•    Works effectively with outside agencies, setting specific objectives and providing clear direction to minimize overlap of resources.
•    Oversees the PR internship program and effectively manages, as well as reviews and approves the projects interns work on.
•    Conducts media targeting & relationship building.
•    Prepares crisis and on call communications.


Skills & Requirements
•    Required bachelor's degree
•    Required at least 5 years' experience in the public relations field including national PR experience with a top tier entity/client. Journalism experience may be considered
•    Preferred experience in healthcare or not-for-profit
