We are searching for an Orthodontic Assistant II – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting and a team player. In this role, you will provide orthodontic assistance in the patient care area in a manner developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served (0-18 years) and adults as necessary

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Sterilizes and disinfects instruments not sent to Central Sterilization and Processing, cleans dental carts and sets up instrument trays daily according to guidelines established by Hospital.
- Prepares materials and assists orthodontist during orthodontic procedures on children (and adults) as necessary on a daily basis.
- Participates in Hospital quality improvement activities (committees, teams, task forces), offers written or verbal recommendations and participates in the development of team goals yearly.
- Makes follow-up appointments for children (and adults) as needed.
- Reviews charts and schedules for next day’s clinics to ensure necessary information is available for the orthodontist
- Lab duties
- Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is a knowledge of orthodontist procedures.
- Should have computer skills.
- Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is the ability to use dental equipment including chairs, carts, amalgamating, curing lights and OTC sterilizer
- The ability to work with patients with special needs, e.g. cleft lip and palate

Skills & Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Registered Dental Assistant from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners required
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
- 6 months required experience as an orthodontic assistant - 1 year preferred
- Bilingual preferred - Spanish
