We’re hunting for a part-time Intern - Bachelor's Candidate, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will function in a learning and support position under departmental leadership of the hospital.

The Immunization Project is the department focused on research activities for acute respiratory illness and gastroenteritis for our hospital staff and patients. Our team of over 20 individuals approach and enroll patients in our studies throughout our hospital in the Texas Medical Center and Texas Children’s Pediatrics clinics across the Houston area. Our team has the unique opportunity of enrolling patients across multiple levels of care, from the outpatient to EC to inpatient settings.

We nurture the professional growth of our team members by improving their:
(1) communication skills with children and families,
(2) medical English and Spanish terminology through screening and chart review, and
(3) vaccine and prevention product literacy through the product verification process.

Our research within our CDC network is essential to providing up-to-date information and guidance about current pathogens circulating regionally and nationally and the effectiveness of current prevention products, such as the flu and rotavirus vaccines and RSV prevention products.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
•    Prepares and assists with special projects for the department leadership and/or project sponsor by agreed-upon deadlines.
•    Meets with families and children to explain Immunization Research Projects and gain buy in to participation.
•    Collect patient history and survey information.
•    Collects lab specimen samples as required. 
•    Willing to travel to different Texas Children's Pediatric Clinics and work on Main Medical Campus in locations as assigned.
•    Completes comprehensive analysis as assigned.
•    Attends other regularly scheduled and required meetings as appropriate (e.g., standing committees, ad hoc committees, meetings specific to current internship, project meetings).


As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Skills & Requirements
•    Required enrollment in a bachelor's program
•    Preferred healthcare experience
•    Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
