We are searching for a Pathology Support -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will support laboratory operations related to specimen triage and delivery and biohazardous and chemical supply delivery, storage, and management. You will also monitor and manage laboratory equipment water chemistry requirements.

Qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
High school diploma or GED required
1-year related work experience required
1 year college or technical school preferred
3 years’ experience in medical materials handling or distribution experience preferred
Responsibilities:
Receives, accessions and distributes laboratory specimens to and from various laboratory locations according to procedures
Maintains reagent and supply inventory in the various cryostat rooms, work stations and mobile carts.
Maintains cleanliness and supply inventory of work areas according to safety procedures.
Notifies supervisor of supply orders needed
Performs and documents temperature checks for refrigerators and freezers.
Organizes the supply inventory such that oldest supplies are used first. Periodically checks for expired supply and discards. Reports discarded items to supervisor.
Orders supplies using the Material Management electronic system or manual requisition
Ensures removal of WT biohazardous waste and acceptable supply of biohazard waste boxes
Assists with storage and retrieval of specimen blocks and slides, maintains files of specimen logs.
Participates in routine scanning of specimen slides.
Utilizes laboratory information systems correctly according to procedures
