We are searching for a Senior Clinical Informatics Specialist. The Senior Clinical Informatics Specialist utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to lead and coordinate all phases of the optimal design, development, evaluation, and support of clinical technology solutions utilized by care providers. Translates business and clinical care needs, using appropriate tools and methodologies. Ensures that systems are consistent with professional standards of practice and meet strategic goals of the organization. Integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to lead efforts to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge into clinical practice improvements.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Leads in the planning and strategic development of clinical systems.
• Translates end user needs into system optimizations.
• Provides ongoing management of clinical informatics systems.
• Supports the improvement of clinical outcomes and clinician efficiency.
• Leads and manages multiple, complex, simultaneous projects.
• Serves as System Administrator for applications owned by Clinical Informatics.
Skills & Requirements
• Knowledge of current clinical practices and computing systems, interfaces, and current standard software.
• Familiarity with various operating systems used by Hospital and data processing techniques and practices.
• Working knowledge of a variety of hardware and software environments and of the healthcare industry is also required.
• Knowledge of Epic healthcare applications.
• Project management and planning, leadership skills, excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills, ability to analyze the functionality of systems and their fit with specifications, and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Key skills are observation, results oriented, and communication.
QUALIFICATIONS
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree (Computer science, business administration, healthcare administration, nursing or other related field)

RN - Lic-Registered Nurses Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact Or
- NP - Nurse Practitioner Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas Or
- PNP - Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas Or
- NNP - Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas Or
- FNP - Cert-Family Nurse Practitioner Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas Or
- RCP - Lic- Respiratory Care - RCP Texas Department of State Health Services Or
- OT - Occupational Therapist Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners Or
- PT - Physical Therapist Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners Or
- RPH - Pharmacist Texas State Board of Pharmacy Or
- MLS-ASCP - Cert-Medical Lab Scientist American Society for Clinical Pathology Or
- MT-ASCP - Cert-Medical Technologist American Society for Clinical Pathology Or
- MB-ASCP - Cert-Tech Molecular Biology American Society for Clinical Pathology
Preferred certifications:
- EPIC CER - EPIC CERT ANY/UNSPECIFIED
- RN-BC IN - Cert-Informatics Nurse
Experience:
- 7 years experience in hospital information systems selection, implementation and support, or specific clinical experience in nursing, respiratory care,
occupational/physical therapy, pharmacy or pathology
- 3 years experience in an informatics job role
Preferred experience -
- 2 years experience managing medium to large sized information services projects.
- 5 years Information systems related experience such as super user, information systems related committees, or go-live support for information systems.
