Summary:

We are searching for an Environmental Services Lead -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will perform routine Environmental Services (Cleaning or Floor Care) duties and respond to emergency calls for cleanup of spills in assigned areas in accordance with standard operating procedures. To monitor and direct staff activities as prescribed by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications:

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
 

H.S. Diploma or GED
Required 2 years’ experience in Environmental Services in either Healthcare, Hospitality, or Contract Cleaning services. Preferred prior hospital experience in Environmental Services
High school diploma or equivalent may be substituted for one year of experience
 

Responsibilities:

Performs cleaning/floor care duties in assigned areas daily according to approved infection control and standard operating procedures. Dispenses cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer’s recommendations. Utilizes cleaning chemicals according to their appropriate applications using the manufacturer’s recommended specifications.
Demonstrates ownership of responsibilities in assigned areas. Identifies and appropriately resolves space quality deficiencies in the assigned area to maintain space quality through the improvement of efficiency, outcomes, and customer service. Identifies and appropriately reports space quality deficiencies throughout hospital properties according to departmental procedures established by management.
Demonstrates accountability for customer service and professional behavior through personal work ethic, teamwork, and effective communication skills. Ensures effective communication and workflow for responsibilities in assigned areas as demonstrated by maintaining good rapport and cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers. Completes activities in a manner that maximizes the effectiveness of the task and minimizes the impact to the customer. Follows departmental communication plan to ensure accurate understanding and appropriate response to information related to job performance and employee expectations.
If assigned, locates, visually inspects, tests functionality, and cleans patient equipment. Locates and cleans patient equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, carts, IV poles, refrigerators, etc.) using appropriate cleaning techniques. Verifies that electrically/battery-powered equipment in the work area has current Biomedical Engineering preventative maintenance (PM) inspection stickers.
Monitors and assist staff activities in assigned area and other designated areas under the direction of immediate supervisor. Ensures daily activities are completed in the assigned area and/or for assigned function. Assesses space quality and provides input to immediate supervisor for project activities, scheduling, and staffing needs. Completes and submits space assessments in an accurate and timely manner according to standards established by management.
