Summary:

We are searching for a Staff Pharmacist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will promote pharmaceutical care by managing the medication process, identifying and preventing potential drug-related problems, and resolving actual drug-related problems. Additionally, you perform the duties of a registered pharmacist. All responsibilities will be performed in a manner developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served (0-adult).

Responsibilities :

  • Inpatient operations satellite work
  • ICU/NICU medication management
  • Order verification
  • Med Prep and delivery in an inpatient setting
  • Fast paced environment
  • Drug and supplies inventory management
  • Adherence to policies and procedures to ensure successful Texas State Board of Pharmacy audits, Centers for Medicaid/Medicare audits, Joint Commission accreditation, Insurance company audits
  • Medication management oversight to ensure fiscal/budget accountability and 340B compliance
  • Adherence to hand off communication process to ensure maximum customer service and smooth area operations
  • When staffing batch pharmacy, supervision and verification of technician preparation of sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products

Qualifications:

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
  • Bachelor’s degree or Ph.D in Pharmacy required
  • RPH certification from the state of Texas required
  • 40 hours of training in compounding sterile products accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferred
