Summary:

We are searching for an Embryologist — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will carry out numerous laboratory procedures involving testing of and achieving pregnancy in infertile couples through IVF, IUI's, micromanipulation and other related reproductive procedures.

 Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Specimen Processing (Semen Analysis, Sperm Washing for IUI/ IVF and Cryopreservation) performed according to standard operating procedures with the highest regard to quality, efficiency, accuracy and timeliness
  • Record collection time, arrival time and days of abstinence
  • Ensure that specimens received from the patient are labeled and placed into the incubator 
  • Permanently and legibly label all specimens in a uniform and consistent fashion, recorded and placed in both the patient file and lab notebook(s)
  • In Vitro Fertilization performed according to standard operating procedures with the highest regard to quality, efficiency, accuracy and timeliness
  • Discuss various tests with patients, how and why they are performed
  • Laboratory Testing (Andrology and Embryology) performed according to standard operating procedures with the highest regard to quality, efficiency, accuracy and timeliness
  • Follow quality guidelines formulated and instituted by the manager in the andrology and embryology laboratories, which also includes Care and Use of Lab Equipment
  • Ordering Lab Supplies and Equipment
  • Files and logs are clearly/neatly labeled, maintained, and organized in such a way as to track any specimen back to an accession number, date or patient last and first name
  • Maintain lab supplies ensuring that appropriate materials are always available

Skills & Requirements

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
  • Bachelor's Degree Biological Sciences, Medical Technology or general sciences field Required
  • 2 years Andrology and/or Embryology experience Required
