Summary:
We are searching for a Pathology Support -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will support laboratory operations related to specimen triage and delivery, bio hazardous and chemical supply delivery, storage, and management. The Support will also monitor and manage laboratory equipment water chemistry requirements.

Qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
High school diploma or GED required
1-year related work experience required
1 year college or technical school preferred
3 years’ experience in medical materials handling or distribution experience preferred
Responsibilities:
Aperio Digital Slide Scanning
Paraffin Block filing using the ARCOS system
Slide filing using a general slide filing system.
Triages patient specimens as they are received into the laboratory per established priority codes
Delivers patient samples received from outside clients and delivers them to the appropriate areas in a timely manner
Facilitates the replenishment of supplies to front-line scientists and processors by utilizing the material handler process and 2-bin replacement system
Receives supplies from Materials Management and others; verifies that quantities and description of items match the delivery documents and other paper work
Organizes the storeroom shelves by category. Rotates stocks such that oldest supplies are used first. Periodically checks for expired supply and discards
Monitors Materials Management system user compliance by reporting discrepancies between supply levels listed in Optiflex and supply levels in the storeroom
Examines water tanks daily and calls vendors for replacement as necessary
Ensures removal of WT biohazardous waste and acceptable supply of biohazard waste boxes
