Summary:

Job Summary:

We are searching for a Nurse Practitioner - Telemedicine -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will work collaboratively with other members of the health care team to render age-appropriate care. Practicing under established protocols, the NP assumes independent responsibilities in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of treatment and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains a caseload of patients based on practice goals and objectives. Works independently to assess, diagnose, treat, and educate patients, consulting with providers as needed. Documents information in patient’s chart regarding assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and education 
  • Supports patients and families in self-management of their health through assisting with education. Provides verbal and/or written information regarding treatment regimens in language that is understandable and appropriate for the patient and/or caregiver. Serves as a credible, knowledgeable educational resource for the patient, family, community, and other health care professionals 
  • Demonstrates Creating SMILES and AIDET philosophies to patients, families and co-workers 
  • Facilitates proper billing. Records diagnosis/CPT in an accurate, timely manner to ensure prompt billing of charges per practice protocol. Tasks are measured by observation and electronic health record review.  Charge and collection rates are also reviewed 
  • Participates in daily operations of the practice. Participates as a member of the care team, working with each member of the team to meet the goals of the patient, participates in care team meetings such as daily huddles and monthly staff meetings. Coordinates patient care by following up on lab results, ER visits, or any part of care that needs coordination 

Requirements:

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption 

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is required 
  • Licenses/Certifications: RN -Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact, NP -Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing, PNP-BC -Cert-Pediatric Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing, FNP -Cert-Family Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing, BLS -Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association
