About Texas Children's Hospital

Texas Children’s first health care location in Austin, Texas Children’s Urgent Care West Gate, opened in March 2018, providing high quality pediatric-focused care after hours and on weekends. There are now more than 10 Texas Children’s Pediatric primary care practices in the greater Austin area bringing world-class pediatric services to children and their families. Our Specialty Care Center in Austin includes a multidisciplinary group of pediatric specialists committed to providing comprehensive care across a wide spectrum of services, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, pulmonology, neurology, and more. Texas Children’s also plans to build a 360,000-square-foot freestanding hospital for children and women, set to open in 2024.

Summary:

We’re hunting for a Director of Human Resources, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will be the senior leader responsible for human resources, organizational development, positive employee relations, employee relations and EAP (Employee Assistance Programs) services at the Austin North Hospital.

You’ll strategically partner, lead, create, and implement talent initiatives that support the organization's goals and business objectives for successfully operating the new Hospital and expanding Texas Children's culture. This position will provide leadership to a diverse team of Human Resources professionals that will partner to provide effective programs and processes to support the people and leadership team of Texas Children's Austin North Hospital.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Hospital and HR leadership to advance Texas Children’s goals and people strategy. 
  • Build and nurture a trusted advisor partnerships with Hospital leadership. Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement or support policies, processes, training and initiatives in support of Texas Children’s goals and people strategy. 
  • Lead and manage all human resources talent functions at the Austin North Hospital.
  • Partner and collaborate with HR COE leaders and departments to ensure remote talent functions are appropriately provided. 
  • Implement comprehensive leadership, organizational development and positive employee relations activities aligned with Texas Children’s goal of attracting and retaining talent. 
  • Perpetual monitoring and advancement of Positive Employee Relations and exemplary employee experience.  
  • Create, enhance, implement and sustain matrixed organization principles that influencers and key stakeholders need to create a strong hospital community and optimize effectiveness. 
  • Provides strategic direction to the Austin North Hospital HR team. 
  • Develops and implements meaningful strategies, philosophies, processes and procedures.
  • Develops goals and objectives, establishes priorities, and continually reviews, establishes and implements policies and procedures for efficient department operations. 
  • Reviews department performance, initiates changes as needed to improve service, enhance efficiencies and support a positive employee experience.
  • Facilitates, participates and collaborates in interdepartmental teams and committees to ensure Texas Children’s operations, programs etc. are integrated and aligned with Texas Children’s strategic plan. 
  • Ensures work is complaint with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Requirements

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field Required.
  • Master’s Degree Preferred 
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • 10 Years of Human Resources experience, including at least five (5) years of management/leadership experience specific to Human Resources
