Summary:

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the medical record documentation provides an accurate representation of the patient’s clinical care, diagnosis, severity, and expected risk of mortality sufficient to support APR-DRG assignment
  • Provides concurrent review and analysis of clinical information through electronic medical record review and interactions with providers
  • Regularly reviews selected patients with coders and other team members for opportunities in improvement in documentation
  • Develops physician education strategies to promote complete and accurate clinical documentation and correct negative trends
  • Utilizes CDI software to gather and analyze information pertinent to documentation findings and outcomes
  • Assists in the development and reporting of performance measures to the medical staff and other departments and prepare physician specific data information
  • Actively participates in departmental and hospital committees and assigned Task Force groups

Qualifications

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is required for all employees unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
  • Associate’s degree required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • MDL, RN, PA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CCDS DOC or CDIP certification required
  • Pediatric experience preferred
