Our Specialty Care Center in Austin includes a multidisciplinary group of pediatric specialists committed to providing comprehensive care across a wide spectrum of services, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, pulmonology, neurology, and more. Summary:
We are searching for an Ultrasound Advanced Specialist RVT -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will prepare, administer, and document activities related to mediations in accordance with state regulations and institution policy. The Specialist is a liaison between patients, radiologist, and other members of the support team. The Specialist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique. They are responsible for patient care, appropriate documentation, quality control, and quality improvement, and they provide training, education and mentoring to students, technologists, nursing, residents, fellows, staff, and others.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Checks room daily for adequate stock necessary to facilitate continuous exam flow. Maintains appropriate inventory as indicated by posted par levels and updates supply lists when items are needed
Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure such as medication contraindications, patient risk for reaction to medications, patient history, laboratory results, insufficient patient preparation or artifacts
Provides information to patients, health care providers, students and the public concerning the role and responsibilities of individuals in the profession
Working independently performs routine and complex, STAT, urgent, on-call and potentially intraoperative Ultrasound cases, while accurately demonstrating understanding of anatomy and pathology through proper imaging techniques
Responsible for precise, complete, and accurate data entry and image management in appropriate technology infrastructure: EPIC, PACS, etc
Accurately and independently performs procedures, identifies, and resolves issues. Seeks experiences and knowledge in the technical area to gain expertise
Responsible for quality control activities on the equipment and collaborates with appropriate parties to resolve image quality issues
Participates and leads continuing education in-service programs, reads professional publications, reviews procedure manuals, and attends trainings
Skills & Requirements
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program required
BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
RVT certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography required within 18 months of entry into the role
RDMS-AB, RDMS-OB or RDMS-PS certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography required
RVS - Registered Vascular Specialist by Cardiovascular Credentialing International may substitute for the RVT requirement
6 years Radiology experience required (any/all modalities)
A Bachelor’s Degree in any radiology or healthcare field of study may substitute for one year of experience
A Master’s Degree in any radiology or healthcare field of study may substitute for two years of experience
