Texas Children’s first health care location in Austin, Texas Children’s Urgent Care West Gate, opened in March 2018, providing high quality pediatric-focused care after hours and on weekends. There are now more than 10 Texas Children’s Pediatric primary care practices in the greater Austin area bringing world-class pediatric services to children and their families. Our Specialty Care Center in Austin includes a multidisciplinary group of pediatric specialists committed to providing comprehensive care across a wide spectrum of services, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, pulmonology, neurology, and more. Texas Children’s also plans to build a 360,000-square-foot freestanding hospital for children and women, set to open in 2024.

Summary:

We’re hunting for an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) Specialist, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will provide direct employee assistance program services to EAP clients and sponsoring organizations. These services include consultation and training to TCH, development of program awareness activities, employee/family assessment and referral, establishment of community linkages, case monitoring, and follow-up.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides direct service to employees and family members:
    • Provides services to employees and families including counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals.
    • Follows standard procedures to maintain confidentiality and provide timely and quality services.
    • Conducts financial assessments and provides training as needed
  • Provides the full continuum of crisis intervention and stress management services
    • Provides crisis intervention and stress management services.
    • Responds to critical incidents within 30 minutes.
    • Conducts training on identifying when to call for crisis intervention.
    • Makes appropriate referrals when necessary.
  • Maintains confidential documentation of EAP services and activities
    • Maintains confidential documentation of EAP services.
    • Shares information only with client permission or as outlined in the Statement of Understanding.
    • Clearly communicates boundaries and limits of service.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community resources for referrals.
    • Advocates for client and organizational needs with providers.
    • Maintains appropriate boundaries and ethical interactions.

Skills & Requirements

 

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption. 
  • Master's Degree social service field required
  • One of the Following Texas Behavioral Health Ex Counc (TBHEC) Licenses Required: 
    • LCSW - Lic Clinical Social Worker 
    • LPC - Licensed Prof Counselor  
    • LMFT - Lic Marriage & Family Therapist 
    • LMSW - Licensed Master Social Worker  
    • LPCA Lic Prof Counselor Assoc 
  • 2 years direct clinical experience required
    • EAP internship/Field Placement may be substituted for experience.
