There are now more than 10 Texas Children’s Pediatric primary care practices in the greater Austin area bringing world-class pediatric services to children and their families. Our Specialty Care Center in Austin includes a multidisciplinary group of pediatric specialists committed to providing comprehensive care across a wide spectrum of services, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, pulmonology, neurology, and more. Texas Children’s also plans to build a 360,000-square-foot freestanding hospital for children and women, set to open in 2024.

Summary:

We are searching for an Organizational Development Specialist, someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will assist Texas Children's in preparing for growth and change through talent planning, employee development, and organizational consulting by enhancing employee engagement, growing talent at all levels, and equipping departments, teams, and individuals to manage and adapt to change. Key functions of this role include project management, facilitation, diagnosing and improving human performance facilitating organizational change, coaching, measurement/evaluation, and training delivery.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Delivers:
    • Organizational improvement efforts for frontline leaders and staff, units or teams designing processes, tools, and interventions focused on improving operations and team performance.
    • Diagnosing and Improving Human Performance: 
    • Facilitates team building and team planning sessions for frontline leaders and staff.
    • Applies a systematic process of gathering data to further clarify issues; watches for deeper issues; identifies linkages with broader initiatives, plans for future improvements in human performance.
  • Facilitates Change: 
    • Facilitates activities that create moderate change usually within a unit or team. Links the change process to daily life of system, mobilizing additional internal resources to support continued change, and determining the parts of the organization that warrant a special focus of attention.
    • Project Management: 
    • Serves as project manager on annual initiatives involving multiple stakeholders. Often seeks guidance from OD leadership to effectively plan, organize, secure and manage resources to bring about the successful completion of initiatives. 
    • Distills recommendations from the data; considers creative alternatives; facilitates a participative decision-making process; obtains commitment from leadership, creates and manages the implementation plan.
  • Measuring & Evaluating: 
    • Designs and conducts spot surveys assessing one target audience. Examples include post orientation survey and training evaluations. 
    • Gathers data to determine employee engagement or the value and impact of learning and performance solutions; creates overall measures of system effectiveness; leverages findings to increase effectiveness and provides recommendations for change.
  • Career Planning & Talent Management: 
    • Facilitates Career Planning Discussions / Workshops and provides performance coaching to staff and frontline leaders. 
    • Managing Organizational Knowledge and the Learning Function: 
    • Develops operating standards for learning management and uses technology to deliver learning resources. 
  • Delivering Learning Solutions: 
    • Provides training primarily to staff and frontline leaders and provides orientation for new hires. 
  • Designing Learning Interventions: 
    • Designs regulatory training for all audiences, designs or enhances training for staff and frontline leaders, and customizes onboarding content and process.
    • Designs, creates, and develops learning interventions to meet needs; analyzes and selects the most appropriate strategy, methodologies, and technologies to maximize the learning experience and impact
  • Coaching: 
    • Works with staff and frontline leaders regarding challenges in individual performance, team dynamics, or leadership transitions.
  • Facilitating / Managing Group Dynamics: 
    • Facilitates processes for frontline leaders and staff, acting as a neutral third party, to help a group work through key objectives using a series of different processes to address the content, applying the right processes with the group to achieve the agreed end result.

Skills & Requirements

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
  • Bachelor's Degree In Business, Human Resources Or Related Field Required 
  • PHR - Cert-prof In Human Recourses Preferred
  • 4 Years Progressive Experience In Organizational Development Required
