Summary:

Job Summary:

We are searching for a Physician for our Employee Medical Clinic — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will lead other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive healthcare services for the Texas Children's employees. The Physician conducts a thorough assessment, performs clinical procedures as needed, determines a diagnosis, and develops a plan of care while following medical policies, and best practices. 

The medical clinic is one area along with EAP, Well-being and Benefits that make up our new and exciting Workforce Well-being team.  This team is focused on a holistic, multifaceted approach to promote, nurture, and enrich the health, well-being, and caring of our Texas Children’s workforce.

Qualifications:

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption. 

  • Required graduation with a medical degree 
  • Required MDL - Medical Doctor License by the Texas State board of Medical Examiners 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains a caseload of patients based on clinic goals and objectives. Assesses, diagnoses, treats, and educates patients. Documents information in patient’s electronic medical record regarding assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and education. Refer to appropriate specialist, as needed. Leads the development and implementation of on-site services including but not limited to; primary care services, patient education, physical therapy, and other medically related services. Collaborates with team regarding disease management and wellness programs.  
  • Educates patient/family. Provides verbal and/or written information regarding treatment regimens in language that is understandable and appropriate for the patient and/or caregiver. Serves as a credible, knowledgeable educational resource for the patient, family, community, and other healthcare professionals.  
  • Facilitates proper service contracts with outside providers, including billing. Records diagnosis/CPT code in an accurate, timely manner to ensure prompt posting of charges per practice protocol. Documents information in patient’s electronic medical record regarding assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and education. Leads in the identification and contracting with outside physicians, hospitals, imaging centers, pharmacies laboratories, dentists, etc. which meet quality and cost standards for the program. Acts as a liaison with these providers, TCH Administration and attorneys. Assures that information regarding the above preferred providers is readily available to employees and their dependents, along with quality data, to support the use of the providers by the employees.  
  • Participates in strategic planning, budget development, and program design for the ensuing program year. Participates in Human Resources, Benefits or other appropriate meetings and provides input to address patient care issues or operational concerns. Remains abreast of employer-managed health care issues and programs to bring the best options to TCH for consideration and implementation. Participates in other applicable meetings and activities as required. These may include, but are not limited to, the Infections Committee, Environmental Health and Safety Committee, and other committees related to the health and safety of the TCH workforce.
