Summary:
We are searching for a Dental Assistant — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide dental assistance in the patient care area. You will also ensure that all care provided is developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served (0-18 years) and adults.

Qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
High school diploma or GED
RDA certification from the Texas Board of Dental Examiners, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, and NOM certification from the Texas Board of Dental Examiners required
2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting required
4 years’ experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Responsibilities:
Apply sealants, monitor nitrous, coronal polishing, and application of fluoride
Sterilize and disinfect instruments, clean dental carts, and set up instrument trays daily according to the guidelines established
Participate in hospital quality improvement activities (committees, teams, task forces), offer written or verbal recommendations, and participate in the development of team goals yearly
Take and expose dental X-rays as ordered by the dentist and provide post -operative instructions to parents/patients
Attend staff meetings and/or reads minutes 90% of the time to keep abreast of current information
Review charts and schedule for the next day’s clinics to ensure the necessary information is available for the dentist
Order and stock dental clinic supply as needed and organize the dental treatment room daily
Attend continuing education workshops, seminars, and in-services
