Summary:
We are searching for an Assistant Director of Advanced Practice Providers who is motivated to work in an exciting pediatric setting! In this position, you will provide 24-hour accountability for the clinical, administrative, and human resources activities for the Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). To practice in an advanced role and to coordinate the delivery of high quality, family centered and developmentally appropriate patient care within the designated clinical areas.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Patient Care: Responsible for all patient-focused activities in designated service area including assessments, procedures, data interpretation and patient/family counseling.
• Organizational Priorities: Partners with staff, medical and unit leadership to ensure clinical excellence. Participates as full partner with Chief/Medical Director to ensure department communication. Participates in the development of policies, procedures, and practice guidelines to optimize APP practice within the institution.
• Quality & Safety: Facilitates delivery of safe, effective, and patient/family centered care that is timely, efficient, and equitable.
• Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Improves patient care through scientific inquiry and by incorporating evidence-based practice into direct patient care.
• Education: Promotes education of health and illness by contributing to APPs, student organizations, and universities.
• Transformational Professional Practice: Participates in transforming professional practice through promotion and dissemination of health care knowledge beyond the individual practice setting.
• Credentialing and Regulatory Practice: Oversees regulatory functions of the APP role including monitoring of licensure, credentialing, certification, billing and coding, reimbursement, and other regulatory requirements.
• Leadership: Demonstrates astute fiscal accountability for areas of clinical responsibilities utilizing appropriate management and justification of resources which includes personnel, equipment, supplies, and capital.
Skills & Requirements
• Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
• Required Master's Degree in Nursing or Current Texas Physician Assistant (PA) License with the Texas Medical Board may substitute for the Master's degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing AND Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) issued by the American Midwifery Certification Board may substitute for a Master's degree in Nursing
• Required Licenses/Certifications: FNP - Cert-Family Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing or NP - Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing or NNP - Neonatal Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing or WHNP-BC - Cert-Womens Health Care NP by the Texas Board of Nursing or PNP-BC - Cert-Pediatric Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing or PA - Cert-Physician Assistant by the Texas Medical Board
• Required 5 years' experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse, Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Midwife with a preferred 3 years of Management/leadership experience
