Summary:

We are searching for a Radiology Advanced Specialist - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll perform exceptional quality routine and specialized radiographic procedures at the request of the licensed independent practitioner for interpretation by radiologists.

Qualifications:

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption


Technical diploma from a formal diagnostic radiology program required
R-ARRT and CMRT certification required
6 years’ radiology experience required

Responsibilities:

Actively manages workflow in communication with nursing, anesthesia and other impacted parties
Supervises Routine and Specialized examinations, assigns tasks, and inspects completed work to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, institutional and departmental standards, rules and laws
Accurately and independently performs procedures, identifies and resolves issues. Seeks experiences and knowledge in the technical area to gain expertise. Shares knowledge with others
Recognizes signs and symptoms of an emergency, and initiates emergency procedures
Strict adherence to Joint Commission or other standards and initiatives and to applicable federal and state guidelines, licensures and policies
Documents incidents, variances, unusual circumstances or patient concerns
Ensures the patient is imaged in a safe environment, free of hazards
Applies patient safety principles during all aspects of radiographic procedures, including assisting and transporting patients
Evaluates images to determine technical acceptability. Ensure proper ID and markings are appropriately recorded
Responsible for training, and development of staff and students on all new policies, procedures, SOPs
Responsible for developing and implementing training schedules and documentation of training
Ensures clinical research patients are treated with same procedural respect and standards as clinical procedures
Captures all required information and records correctly 100% of the time
Greets all patients, visitors and staff in a professional, courteous and respectful manner
Maintains positive lines of communication with radiologists, leadership, nursing, peers, staff and others
Incorporates HIPAA into all actions to ensure patient confidentiality is maintained
Works independently and assists team in completing routine and complex portable, STAT, urgent, on-call and intraoperative diagnostic and fluoroscopic cases, while demonstrating anatomy and pathology through proper diagnostic scanning
Verifies patient’s pregnancy status
Applies principles of ALARA, including use of technical factors according to technical specifications, to minimize exposure to patient, self and others
Performs high quality imaging procedures: determines technical exposure factors, identifies and removes artifact producing objects, and utilizes shielding devices to protect the patient, self and others
Maintains current required licensure and certifications
