Set to open in 2024, the North Austin Campus will be a 52 bed, 365,000 square foot hospital for children and women. Summary:

We are searching for a Supervisor of Perfusion -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will assist in ensuring staffing for autotransfusion services in both TCH main campus and the Pavilion for Women To work with the A.D. of circulatory services in managing, maintaining, and teaching all ventricular assist devices to ensure the proper equipment is up to date and ready and to ensure patients and families are supported. To participate in the delivery of high-quality perfusion services, including cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), ECMO support, VAD support, and cell saver procedures in an age-appropriate manner.

Responsibilities :

  • Actively participates in patient care by practicing as a clinical perfusionist and providing perfusion services, including cardiopulmonary bypass, ECMO, VAD, Cell saver
  • Plans, organizes, and directs perfusion-related staffing and workflow in the absence of the A.D. of circ support, including staff scheduling, call, Daily work assignments, and expectations, Coordination of resources to meet changing patient care needs, Project assignments, Liaison with ECLS Coordinators and Specialists Strategic planning and goal-setting, Liaison with Heart Failure Team, Coordination of resources to meet VAD patient education needs
  • Supervises clinical practice and outcomes of perfusion team and VAD team, addresses issues and problems, and ensures effective training and ongoing improvement, including, Orientation and staff development/teaching. Provides input on employee performance, coaching, and development. Quality improvement activities Teach medical staff and support team about all VAD systems in use at TCH
  • Demonstrates financial accountability for perfusion services through Coordination and maintenance of resources (equipment, supplies, staff) in a fiscally responsible manner, Evaluation of and response to budget-related data reports and initiatives
  • Participates in research, evidence-based practice, and professional presentations/publications - encourages the involvement of staff. Incorporates the most current evidence-based knowledge, technology, and procedures into the team’s everyday practice and protocols


Qualifications:

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Science
  • Required CCP - Cert-Cer Clinical Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP), 
  • Required LP - Licensed Perfusionist by the State of Texas
  • Required 2 years of Perfusion experience, with a preferred 2 years of Pediatric perfusion experience
