Summary:
We are searching for a Sleep Center Technologist – someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. This person has passed a competency examination and is credentialed as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). In this position, you’ll perform sleep studies and document results according to facility policy and procedures. Excellent communication skills are essential for this position. The Senior Sleep Technologist performs procedures appropriate to their competence and credentials, and is primarily responsible for conducting night time sleep studies.

Responsibilities :
Demonstrates a mastery of technical and procedural requirements to consistently produce high quality neurodiagnostic sleep studies; is able to adapt all procedures to clinical circumstances; monitors and/or eliminates causes of artifact; and consistently and properly labels recordings
Performs neurodiagnostic testing within the Neurophysiology laboratory and, as required, in inpatient units according to departmental and AAST standards of care
Ensures electrode application in adherence with the International 10–20 System
Demonstrates knowledge of product allergies, movement restrictions and different levels of consciousness the patient may experience
Performs patient safety measures in accordance with institutional policies, procedures, standards and/or guidelines.
Orients patient/family to room and facility (including emergency procedures)
Provides education to patient/family around sleep procedure
Maintains the patient’s safety through effective communication
Responsible for awareness and recognition of the decompensating patient and demonstrates knowledge of escalation and de-escalation processes
Understands and applies appropriate discharge criteria before dismissal of patient from the sleep lab.
Conducts efficient and accurate scoring, and documenting of sleep studies
Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines
Qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers
Two (2) years of experience in pediatric polysomnography (sleep studies)
Current registry in Polysomnography (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
Preferences:
Graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program) accredited sleep program preferred
Registered Sleep Technologist by American Board of Sleep Medicine preferred
