Texas Children’s has been expanding in Austin since March 2018, when we opened Texas Children’s Urgent Care West Gate, providing high quality pediatric-focused care after hours and on weekends. There are now more than 10 Texas Children’s Pediatric primary care practices in the greater Austin area bringing world-class pediatric services to children and their families. Our Specialty Care Center in Austin includes a multidisciplinary group of pediatric specialists committed to providing comprehensive care across a wide spectrum of services, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, pulmonology, neurology, and more. Set to open in 2024, the North Austin Campus will be a 52 bed, 365,000 square foot hospital for children and women. The hospital and its 170,000 square foot adjacent outpatient building will be designed, equipped, and staffed exclusively to provide care in more than 25 areas of specialty care for children and women. Summary:

We are searching for a Clinical Specialist - Pediatrics -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will demonstrate theoretical and clinical expertise in the physical, psychosocial, developmental, and educational aspects of nursing care for specified patient populations and their families as outlined in the unit profiles. The Clinical Specialist works interdependently with and independently of the multi-disciplinary team. The Clinical Specialist is dedicated to promoting optimal patient/family care with the ultimate goal of enhanced patient/family outcomes.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborates with the health care team to assist in planning, implementation of and evaluation of the treatment approach utilizing theoretical knowledge, sound judgment and problem-solving
  • Acts as a clinical resource to staff and other members of the health care team seeking to improve quality and safety of patient care
  • Provides consultative services to health care providers, patient, families within the institution
  • Serves as an educational resource for the patient and family, community and other health care professionals
  • Participates in the efforts of the Quality Outcomes Program and/or unit-based quality initiatives by coordinating, developing, implementing, and monitoring quality initiatives that promote clinical outcomes and demonstrate nursing excellence
  • Supports and facilitates the attainment of institutional goals and strategic plan


Qualifications:

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

  • Master’s degree in nursing required
  • RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact required
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • 4 years nursing experience for specified patient population required
