Texas Children’s has been expanding in Austin since March 2018, when we opened Texas Children’s Urgent Care West Gate, providing high quality pediatric-focused care after hours and on weekends. There are now more than 10 Texas Children’s Pediatric primary care practices in the greater Austin area bringing world-class pediatric services to children and their families. Our Specialty Care Center in Austin includes a multidisciplinary group of pediatric specialists committed to providing comprehensive care across a wide spectrum of services, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, pulmonology, neurology, and more. Set to open in 2024, the North Austin Campus will be a 52 bed, 365,000 square foot hospital for children and women. The hospital and its 170,000 square foot adjacent outpatient building will be designed, equipped, and staffed exclusively to provide care in more than 25 areas of specialty care for children and women. Summary:

We are searching for a Manager of Therapy -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will direct, supervise and coordinate the daily operations of a Health Center(s) Therapy Department and various projects as assigned by the Assistant Director of the Health Centers and Ambulatory Administration.

Responsibilities :

  • Manages daily operations of assigned Health Center, including, but not limited to customizing practice site operations, creating and overseeing annual capital and operating budgets, and monitoring financial performance and billing.
  • Staff scheduling/productivity: Monitors staffing requirements and productivity levels by establishing staffing guidelines based on patient needs and budgetary guidelines within review at least annually.
  • Communicates and collaborates with team members to ensure the successful operation of Health Centers including but not limited to therapist, parent, patient complaints and suggestions.
  • Manages human resources through hiring, developing and coaching competent staff and investigating/resolving all employee, patient and physician complaints and concerns. Provides structure feedback for each staff member through yearly development plans and informal and/or formal follow-up at least twice a year. Facilitate therapy student placement in Health Center and mentoring of students.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards (JCAHO, HCFA, DI, CLIA, OSHA, and ADA)
  • Conducts special projects as needed for Health Centers Administration.
  • Ensures delivery of quality, cost effective patient care within the family-centered ca environment  by coordinating clinical training and mentoring for licensed and non-licensed staff based on identified individual and department needs and organizational requirements.
  • Identifies problems and opportunities for improvement, analyzes options, selects and implements effective improvements. Collaborates with other departments to identify and resolve issues related to therapy departmental operations when necessary. Supports the implementation of unit/department goals and communication of the IDS strategic plan to staff


Qualifications:

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy required
  • Master's Degree in business, education, or health care related field preferred
  • Master's Degree may substitute for 4 additional years of experience
  • Licenses/Certifications: OT - Occupational Therapist Licensed by the state of Texas, PT - Physical Therapist Licensed by the state of Texas, OR SLP - Speech Language Pathologist Licensed by the state of Texas required
  • BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support - preferred
  • 8 years of health care experience required
