Summary:

We are searching for a Research Technologist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide the Texas Children's research community with timely and accurate research services, which may include infectious diseases. To perform technical laboratory procedures, complex  testing, analyze research data and report results to be used for research purposes, To provide overall data management and laboratory coordination of protocol activities, tests and procedures, data entry, and communication with research staff and investigators; and to guide and supervise research assistants and coordinate research efforts in the laboratory. In addition, individual will participate in projects and activities to further Texas Children's research initiatives. Individual will establish routine workflows, executing daily operations, provide equipment and supply maintenance, as well as data operations while remaining in compliance with good laboratory practices and legal requirement

Responsibilities :

  • Identifies, receives, processes, and analyzes specimens
  • Cryopreserves peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) for immunologic assays, processes plasma, serum and other specimens for storage and shipping, participates in the Immunology Quality Assessment (IQA) of PBMC
  • Maintains Database
  • Participates in research collaboration and other special projects
  • Provides quality control/assurance activities and inventory maintenance
  • Accomplishes professional growth & other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
  • Bachelor's Degree in biological or biomedical sciences
  • 5 years research experience
