We are searching for a Pharmacy Technician Manager -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will oversee physical pharmacy satellites/areas, daily operations, technician personnel and ensure procurement of pharmaceuticals for all Hospital/Health Center Campuses. To identify and monitor opportunities for vendor changes to assure fiscal responsibility validates appropriate inventory levels. To identify and promote strategies to provide safe and effective preparation and delivery of medications to all patients served.

Responsibilities :

· Manages Technician Personnel

· Interviews, selects, trains, and manages pharmacy technicians daily in all pharmacy areas

· Addresses personnel, operational, scheduling, and daily pharmacy issues, and needs

· Inventory Management

· Maintain oversight of activities for the pharmaceutical inventory appropriate pharmacy satellites and areas

· Maintains and updates inventory methodologies and systems to ensure and support the fiscal, operational, and clinical integrity of the drug purchasing practices. Initiates and maintains appropriate contacts to support and oversee contracts for maintenance and other outside purchase services

· Monitors Operations and Oversees Staff in the Areas of Responsibility

· Oversees daily activities related to the ordering, receiving, and distribution of all medications and supplies. Assists in setting par levels of medications and supplies in areas of responsibility

· Ensures investigational drug records are maintained according to departmental policy. Ensures follow-up to any discrepancies

· Works with Inventory and Central Distribution personnel to maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies. Follows procedures established for stock replacement. Follows non-formulary procedures

· Follows aseptic technique and infection control in the preparation of sterile products. Ensures technicians and pharmacists practice aseptic technique and infection control

· Accountability D: Education, Documentation, and Essential Functions

· Completes Daily Activity checklists, Controlled Substance Shift Counts, and all filing

· Maintains investigational drug records according to departmental policy

· Participates in the education and training of pharmacy employees.

· Works with area/satellite staff to formulate yearly objectives and provides information to assist in the preparation of the annual budget

· Performs additional duties as assigned within specified deadlines, e.g., policy and procedure review, form revision, and program implementation

· Demonstrates initiative when opportunities are presented as evidenced by successful completion of the project


· Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption


· H.S. Diploma or GED requred with a preferred Bachelor's Degree

· RPHT-TX certification from the State Board of Pharmacy required

· Licenses/Certifications: Chemotherapy Certified USP 797 & 800 Compliant preferred Certified USP 797 & *00 Compliant preferred

· Required 5 years of Pharmacy technical, inventory/purchasing, and/or operational experience required

· 3 years of Pharmacy purchasing experience and 3 years of Supervisory experience preferred
