Summary:

We are searching for a Medical Assistant -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will gather information, assess, and provide direct care to patients.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides way finding, general assistance and customer service to members and families
  • Assists in the collection of patient/family data that may include biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol
  • Collects and documents vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for visit. Updates documentation to include if patient has received care at any other locations since last visit
  • Prepares patient for examination per practice protocol, including administering questionnaires
  • Assists provider, as directed, during treatments, examinations and testing as directed by provider and within scope of practice
  • Schedules appointments per practice protocol
  • Collects specimens and performs laboratory test
  • Maintains and prepares reagents appropriately and performs and documents required reagent checks, including monitoring of expiration dates
  • Performs and documents scheduled quality control, instrument maintenance and calibration procedures according to manufacturer information
  • Demonstrates commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and customer service skills


Qualifications:

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • BLS certification required from American Heart Association
  • CMA-AAM, RMA, or EMT certification preferred
  • 1-year related experience preferred
