We are searching for a Senior HR Communications Specialist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will lead and implement integrated communications strategies to attract, develop, engage, and retain both existing and future employees. In support of Texas Children's mission of providing world-class health care to children and women everywhere, the Employer Branding and Internal Communications team are made up of diverse individuals who are each committed to creating a positive employee and candidate experience by delivering high-quality, timely, thoughtful and effective communication.

Responsibilities :



Responsibility A: Serves as primary project lead and consultant for employer brand initiatives and/or internal communications, including internal and external people-engagement strategies

  • Establishes and maintains clear brand standards and guidelines, and educates key stakeholders to ensure standards are adopted
  • Generates and implements creative ideas that align with our organizational mission and priorities
  • Collaborates proactively to ensure deliverables complement Texas Children’s overall brand identity and align with internal stakeholder objectives. Acts as an advisor within Human Resources, as well as a key liaison between the internal communications team and other departments
  • Builds effective project plans and ensures timely, high-quality deliverables
  • Guides, coordinates, and directs designers, photographers, videographers, and other creative specialists to produce print and digital deliverables


Responsibility B: Serves as internal communications lead for multiple Texas Children’s areas and departments

  • Develops strategic communications plans to promote and advance organizational initiatives, goals and priorities
  • Serves as a member of our crisis communications team, leading and participating in emergency response efforts
  • Writes and edits a wide variety of communications with excellence, creativity, and accuracy. Uses an innovative blend of media to achieve desired awareness among employee populations
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders, physicians, department leaders and administrative staff to remain current on important news and initiatives
  • Researches, writes, and edits stories, blog posts, global emails, talking points, scripts and other communications and facilitates the most effective method of distribution
  • Advises key stakeholders in the development of communication strategies for programs, services, initiatives, and events
  • Manages all areas of content and project production, from the brainstorming to reporting results
  • Completes special writing assignments upon request (e.g., executive communications, speeches, print media, special event materials, etc.)


Responsibility C: Serves as coordinator for the development and maintenance of web content (employer brand roles)

  • Partners with HR digital lead on website design and ensures consistency with Texas Children’s overall employer brand
  • Ensures clear web standards and style guide for all websites is followed
  • Administers guidelines and processes for content generation, approval and posting
  • Provides consultation and, when appropriate, approval of web content

Responsibility D: Coordinates social media engagement strategies (employer brand roles)

  • Provides collaborative oversight of social media engagement strategies and ensures consistency with Texas Children’s overall brand
  • Ensures content and design comply with the highest levels of creativity and quality, containing the appropriate tone and messaging
  • Identifies opportunities to repurpose and reinforce strategic messaging across multiple mediums and audiences
  • Recommends and introduces creative communication channels for boosting engagement
  • Tracks and reports key metrics and recommend opportunities for improvement

Responsibility E: Performs other duties, as assigned

  • Provides leadership or assistance with special projects, initiatives, and events
  • Coordinates with vendors and assists with vendor selection, when appropriate
  • Actively supports organizational and departmental initiatives by participating in cross-functional teams or committees
  • Engages proactively to continuously learn and develop new skills, and then apply learnings to the way we communicate
  • Consistently delivers exceptional service to all




  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
  • Required Bachelor's Degree with a preferred bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Mass Communications, Human Resources or related field
  • 4 years’ experience in communications, marketing, Human Resources, or similar experience
