We are searching for an Assistant Director of Coding Compliance/Clinical Docs -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will direct all coding and clinical documentation improvement efforts to ensure timely and accurate coding of all services. You will direct processes to obtain accurate physician documentation to support appropriate severity of illness, risk of mortality, and improvement of the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. You will facilitate the overall structure, process, oversight, and accountability of organizational coding and health data collection activities to ensure accurate provider documentation and coding as it relates to appropriate, compliant, and optimal reporting and reimbursement for health care services. You must understand and support regulatory requirements.

Job Duties


  • Ensure key processes have standards of performance that are measured, reported, and addressed
  • Direct key processes by monitoring and reporting performance statistics and explaining variances and adjustments when made
  • Resolve coding and clinical documentation errors/ issues/problems by consulting with physicians, other Hospital departments, insurance companies, attorneys, and other additional avenues available to resolve the issue
  • Responsible for timely, thorough data collection and coding compliance with regulatory agencies to include federal, state, and local entities
  • Coordinate and/or directs process improvement opportunities
  • Drive tangible and measurable improvements of key processes through the leadership, training, and mentoring of the team
  • Participate in Hospital, departmental, and IDS network initiatives such as IS implementation and value improvement
  • Update and/or establish patient financial services policies and procedures to ensure that the hospital is compliant with governmental regulations, accrediting bodies, and other statutes
  • Accountability for bill-hold targets, reporting deadlines, and optimal timely submission of information for billing processes and decision support
  • Meet regularly with direct reports and staff to keep them informed and up-to-date with matters that impact their areas of responsibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a clinical field of study or completion of bachelor’s program within 2 years of assuming the role required
  • 5 years’ experience in a healthcare-related industry including 3 years’ supervisory experience required
  • RN, PA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CCDS DOC, or CDIP license/certification required
