Summary:

We are searching for a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will utilize specialized knowledge and training to lead, manage and promote activities appropriate to ensure a safe and effective medication use process.  This is accomplished through work in the following categories: formulary management, medication use evaluations, infusion pump maintenance, review of safety incidents, multi-disciplinary committee membership, policy and procedure management, and clinical outcomes management.  Additionally, to perform the duties of a registered pharmacist as defined by Texas Children’s Hospital.

Responsibilities :

  • Utilizes clinical administrative knowledge and skills to serve as a specialist in the management of the formulary and medication use process
  • Participates in medication use process endeavors (i.e. formulary management, P&T Committee and subcommittee work, infusion pump guardrails management, policy and procedure management).
  • Analyzes and evaluates data to identify medication use trends and make recommendations to the department and P&T Committee regarding changes to the formulary
  • Participates in hospital and departmental continuous improvement activities by effectively managing aspects of formulary implementation, medication use evaluations, and safety initiatives
  • Serves as a member of departmental and hospital committees
  • Participates in the education and training of pharmacy employees, pharmacy students, and pharmacy residents.

 



Qualifications:

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemptionion.
  • Bachelor’s or doctoral degree in Pharmacy required
  • RPH certification from the state of Texas required
  • 2 years’ PGY1 ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency and a PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in an Advanced Area of Pharmacy Practice
  • 5 years’ PGY1 ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency with 4 years’ experience in a pediatric inpatient hospital pharmacy setting with clinical responsibilities can substitute for previous experience
