Summary:

We are searching for an Assistant Director Associate Risk Counsel -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this role will provide counsel, as appropriate, as it relates to preventing and mitigating organizational risk, managing claims, and reviewing insurance provisions and contractual agreements entered into by the organization.

Responsibilities :

  • Assists Director by providing legal counsel to management, executives, and medical staff. Responds to requests/inquiries from local, state, and federal governmental agencies
  • Assists Director with the management of litigation as relates to insurance claims
  • Performs review and revision of contractual agreements as relates to insurance coverage and risk exposure
  • Actively participates in hospital committee meetings, subcommittees, ad-hoc meetings as directed
  • Communicates effectively with executives and management regarding legal implications of business strategies, policies, procedures, and current insurance coverages
  • Supervises, manages and directs the work of the Risk department under the direction of the Director
  • Reviews related legal matters and assists the Director with departmental budget activities
  • Ensures that Joint Commission requirements specific to your department are fulfilled but also understand the linkage between your department's requirements and those of the integrated delivery system

 



Qualifications:

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
  • Juris Doctor degree required
  • Texas law license required. If candidate does not have a Texas law license, one must obtain and maintain a license to practice law in another state and get licensed in the state of Texas within 18 months of hire
  • 2 years advising large corporations either at a law firm or in-house required
  • Experience providing legal counsel to tax exempt organizations preferred
