Summary:

We are searching for an Orthodontic Assistant -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide orthodontic assistance in the patient care area in a manner developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served (0-18 years) and adults as necessary.

Responsibilities :

  • Assists orthodontist during examination and treatment of children (and adults as necessary), including those with craniofacial differences
  • Sterilizes and disinfects instruments not sent to Central Sterilization and Processing, cleans dental carts and sets up instrument trays daily according to guidelines established by hospital
  • Takes and exposes dental x-rays on children (and adults) as necessary as ordered by orthodontist
  • Performs orthodontic adjustments under the direction of the orthodontist. This includes placement of power chain wire ties and other orthodontic auxiliary appliances
  • Attends continuing education workshops, seminars and in-services and fulfills all mandatory education requirements as documented on staff development roster
  • Reviews charts and schedules for next day’s clinics to ensure necessary information is available for the orthodontist
  • Orders and stocks orthodontic clinic supplies as needed and organizes orthodontic treatment rooms daily
  • Orders and stocks dental clinic supplies as needed and organizes dental treatment rooms daily


Qualifications:

  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is required for all employees unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • RDA from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners required
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • 6 months experience as an Orthodontic Assistant required
