Summary:

We are searching for a Security Officer CSO-- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will protect the staff, patients, visitors, and assets of our hospital. You will assist the general public, staff or patients in all matters of safety and security. The Security Officer CSO stands a post as instructed and serves as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime and client rule infractions, detects suspicious activities, watches for criminal acts or client rule infractions and addressed them appropriately. This position responds to all incidents as dispatched, providing assistance as needed, protecting personnel and property within reason and securing the incident scene until properly relieved. This position conducts initial investigation of incidents and is responsible for documenting incident details and completing all appropriate reports and forms as necessary.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides security functions at designated post locations
  • Patrols the hospital as assigned, observing all conditions inside and outside of the hospital for potential threats to the safety of patients, visitors, employees, and medical staff
  • Monitors traffic and parking in designated areas
  • Ensures that all emergency vehicles have ready access to Emergency Center dock for offloading of patients
  • Safely operates and maintains hospital-owned vehicles as directed by supervisor and departmental procedures
  • Responds to and assists hospital personnel with patient transport, elevator prioritization and reports during fire alarms, accidents, missing child alerts and elevator entrapments
  • Attends and completes hospital and departmental required training
  • Assist in conducting Basic Training, Departmental Training, and In-Service Training as directed


Qualifications:

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • LCSO from the Texas Department of Public Safety must be acquired within 90 days of entering the role
  • Must have CIHSO license authorized by the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) within 180 days of entering the role
  • Texas driver’s license must be acquired within 90 days of entering the role
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check demonstrating a clear driving record
  • 1- year security, law enforcement, or military experience required
  • A bachelor’s degree may substitute for the 1 year of required security, law enforcement, or military experience
