Texas Children’s first health care location in Austin, Texas Children’s Urgent Care West Gate, opened in March 2018, providing high quality pediatric-focused care after hours and on weekends. There are now more than 10 Texas Children’s Pediatric primary care practices in the greater Austin area bringing world-class pediatric services to children and their families. Our Specialty Care Center in Austin includes a multidisciplinary group of pediatric specialists committed to providing comprehensive care across a wide spectrum of services, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, pulmonology, neurology, and more. Texas Children’s also plans to build a 360,000-square-foot freestanding hospital for children and women, set to open in 2024.

We are searching for a Manager of Transport/Mission Control (RN) -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will have 24-hour accountability for the clinical, educational, administrative, and operational activities of the Transport Services/Mission Control team. You will work collaboratively with departmental leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient and family centered care.

Qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
BLS from the American Heart Association required
RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact required
PALS certification from the American Heart Association required within 4 months of hire
NRP certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association required within 4 months of hire
ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required within 6 months of hire
US passport required
CPEN from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing required
CCRN NEO or CCRN PED from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses required
C-NPT from the National Certification Corporation required within 18 months of hire
5 years’ experience in clinical nursing care required
Transport experience preferred
Responsibilities:
Maintains clinical competence of nursing staff and ensures the delivery of high-quality, age-appropriate, family-centered and cost-effective care
Provides supervision of nursing and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) staff and coordinates care needs during and after transport
Assists departmental leadership in the recruitment, orientation, and training of new staff
Participates in quality initiatives to develop and monitor clinical outcomes during transport
Coordinates and collaborates with stakeholders to create collaborative work relationships that drive performance and quality outcomes in a timely and effective manner
Reviews and reports department data so stakeholders have the information needed to identify trends such as business development opportunities and shifts in transfer volume
Collaborates with the management team to budget for expected levels of revenue and provide reporting on status and changes in revenue
