We are searching for a Senior Business Continuity Advisor -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will be responsible for leading the Business Continuity Lifecycle for all of our organization’s entities. This business continuity lifecycle management includes working with senior operational leaders to conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and risk assessments, updating/refining the business continuity plans of service areas, geographical sites, and business lines, and conduct training and education to those groups and business segments across the organization. This role will work with all levels of leadership across the hospital system as part of the continuous improvement process for the Business Continuity Lifecycle.

Responsibilities :

  • Conducts hazard vulnerability assessment and business impact assessment
  • Responsible for business continuity plan development and updates
  • Plans business continuity exercises
  • Delivers plan or department specific training
  • Maintains documentation, materials and member lists for volunteer decontamination teams where required
  • Represents the organization at business continuity events
  • Performs crisis management/incident management as part of the Crisis Management Team


  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, disaster recovery, disaster preparedness, or emergency management preferred
  • Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, disaster recovery, or disaster preparedness preferred
  • CBCP, CHPCP or MBCP certification from the Disaster Recovery Institute International preferred
  • CBCI, CBCMN from the Business Continuity Institute preferred
  • 7 years of corporate business continuity, IT disaster recovery, crisis management, or healthcare emergency management required
  • Certification in continuous improvement, Six Sigma, or project management preferred
  • Certification in ISO 22301 Certified Business Continuity Manager (CBCM) or a Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE) preferred
  • A master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience
