We are searching for a Senior Family Advocate -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will advocate for the needs of patients and families by facilitating open communication between families and staff, addressing issues, and concerns. You will also support Resolution Specialists and Assistant Director/Director of Family Advocacy by mentorship of Family Advocates, participation in special projects and educational opportunities associated with complaints/grievances, data collection for quality improvement, and assessment and updating of leadership contact data throughout the system.

Responsibilities
•   Coordinate employee training on patient/family complaints and grievances
•   Identify areas needing additional training in policies and procedures related to complaints and grievances
•   Takes the lead in collaboration with the unit Family Advocate on complex patient/family support issues as requested and/or directed by Resolution Specialist and Assistant Director
•   Solicit and answer questions that patients and families may have concerning non-clinical issues related to their visit as evidenced by leadership observation
•   Ensure that issues and concerns raised by patients and their families are handled in an effective and expedient manner
•   Assume on-call duties after hours, on weekends, and on holidays on a rotating basis
•   Document daily work and provide appropriate reports
•   Read current literature to maintain and develop knowledge of issues affecting families and service and in the delivery of care

Requirements
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
•   Bachelor’s degree required
•   Bachelor’s degree in a clinical discipline (social work, child life) preferred
•   3 years’ experience in a health care clinical setting required
•   Training and experience in patient relations, clinical discipline, executive leadership interface savvy, public speaking, and cultural diversity awareness preferred
