Summary:

We are searching for a Communications Specialist - At its heart, our Communications Specialist is a storyteller who brings the voice of our people and patients to life. This individual must be a strong writer who consistently looks for creative ways to inspire, educate and inform both internal and external audiences.

 

In addition, the Communications Specialist is responsible for project managing all communications, executing and delivering them to stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.

Responsibilities :

  • Skilled at writing short-form content that instantly captures a readers’ attention.

  • Ability to write for a variety of channels and platforms (social media, websites, PPT presentations, speeches, etc.)

    Act as a staff editor, writer, and reporter for internal publications and digital media
  • Manage content, timeline, and distribution through assigned communications vehicles
  • Research news stories to ensure clarity and accuracy for our audiences
  • Proactively identifies important initiatives and events, and work with the internal communications team to ensure appropriate coverage
  • Manage content for assigned publications
  • Project manages content for assigned publications and communications campaigns.
  • Ensure contributions are produced on schedule
  • Identify opportunities to repurpose and extend the life of existing materials
  • Keeps accurate, organized records of all projects and deliverables
  • Contributes creatively to content development process, always seeking new and improved ways of informing and inspiring Texas Children’s employees.

    Works with broader communication team to execute various pieces of larger communications campaigns and consistently looks for ways to tie initiatives back to our values.

  • Write executive communications, including letters, emails, speeches, talking points, white papers, and communications objectives for leaders
  • Attends events for internal and external reporting. Coordinates with photographers, video producers, writers, public relations team and event managers to ensure alignment between all groups.
  • Excellent project management skills to balance multiple deliverables concurrently


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Human Resources, or Business
  • 3 years’ experience of work experience in communications
  • Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
